What is a Lasting Power of Attorney?
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document you can create while you have full mental capacity, allowing you to appoint trusted individuals to make important decisions on your behalf. There are two types of LPA:
- Property & Financial Affairs – Covers managing your finances, property, and bills
- Health & Welfare – Covers decisions about medical treatment, care, and daily living
For an LPA to take effect, it must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian.
